Panda, Zeb and Sabe at home in the kennel.

Zeb is a big dog with a gentle soul.

Tryfan enjoys some inside time. Many of our dogs like to come in the house for a little bean bag lounging.

Ceo's name is gaelic for "mist" or "fog."

After the mile-long climb out of Grafton Notch, it's nice to take a breather. Schoodic and Sabe lead a four dog team on this crisp morning after an April Fool's Day storm.

Sabe and Esker lead a team driven by Outward Bound students.

In an attempt to keep the dogs' minds and bodies active in the off-season, we've filled the kennel with platforms, ramps and this culvert. On this summer day, activity is out of the question, so Panda and Zeb enjoy the cool darkness.

On the road, the dogs travel in a dog box on top of the truck. Each door opens on a kennel-sized compartment that keeps each dog warm, dry and safe in the event of an accident. The box is high-density plastic and very easy to clean.

Rattle surveys the camp in the Cold River basin. On expedition, the dogs are clipped to a picket line secured between two trees, where they sleep and eat and recharge for the next day's journey.

Ceo and Panda lead a team on fast trails near Nash Stream, New Hampshire.

Tilli, at six weeks, gazes out at the world from the security of the whelping box.

Tuckamore at nine weeks.
